Bedford Theatre

 

Bedford Theatre is a ministry of Nichols Hills United Methodist Church. Bedford Theatre is a family-friendly volunteer community theatre troupe housed on the stage at Nichols Hills United Methodist Church.

Rev. Jim Perkin and his family became involved in theatre in his previous appointment in Poteau, OK when they joined Good Times Community Theatre. Rev. Perkin said, “We joined the theatre troupe because we thought it would be an enjoyable hobby, but I found that God used us in powerful ways to speak God’s love into my fellow cast members’ lives. Often God used me to speak words of comfort and healing in spaces I’m not sure I would have had the opportunity otherwise. I was able to tell my theatre friends, ‘God loves you. God will always love you and there is nothing you can do to change that.’ I became a pastor for some who didn’t have a church home.”

When Rev. Perkin was appointed to Nichols Hills UMC in July 2023 he saw a great opportunity with the existing stage in their fellowship hall. Now almost 2 years later, he and his daughter Sadie Hardaway, who is serving as Director of the shows, have made their dream become a reality.
